Crackdown on cattle smuggling in Haryana, 18 cows were rescued from smugglers.
Chandigarh, July 21 – In a crackdown on cattle smuggling in Haryana, 18 cows were rescued from smugglers in district Bhiwani in the wee hours of July 21, 2016.
While stating this today, Secretary, Regional Transport Authority and City Magistrate, Bhiwani, Mr. Mahesh Kumar, said that the truck ferrying the cattle was stopped for checking during patrolling on Dadri road in Bhiwani. However, instead of stopping, the driver sped the vehicle towards Dadri.
He said that he chased the truck across Dadri to village Ramnagar, where the truck, along with 19 cows, was abandoned by its three occupants who fled under the cover of darkness. Rushing to the spot, the Dadri Sadar Police impounded the truck. However, as the animals were crammed in the truck beyond capacity, one of them died due to suffocation. The other cows have been shifted to a ‘gaushala’, he added.
He said that a case was registered and efforts were on to identify and arrest the accused.
