The President of India Mr Pranab Mukherjee desires to connect the Panchayats of the five villages adopted by him in Haryana

Chandigarh July 4: The President of India Mr Pranab Mukherjee desires to connect the Panchayats of the five villages adopted by him in Haryana directly with the Rashtrapati Bhavan with the twin objective of developing these villages as smart villages and ensure that the works in these villages are carried out as per aspirations of the people.
This was stated by Secretary to the President, Mrs Omita Paul while addressing special gram sabhas in villages Dhaula and Harichandpur in district Gurgaon today. The special gram sabhas were organized as a step forward towards developing villages of Gurgaon as smart villages. The villages adopted by the President included Dhaula, Alipur, Harichandpur and Taj Nagar in district Gurgaon and Rojka-Meo in district Mewat.
Mrs Omita Paul was accompanied by Director, Rashtrapati Bhavan Secretariat Mr N.K Sudhanshu, OSD to President of India Mr Abhijit Roy and OSD Anjali Bakshi. Other officers of the team were also present.
While referring to the smart model village project, Mrs Paul said that new techniques would be used for making the villages smart so that people could perform multiple tasks at one time. She said that various important development works have been got completed in the Rashtrapati Bhavan during the last 3-4 years and on the same pattern, the smart villages of Haryana would be developed.
She said that top ranking institutes of the country having specialized in their respective fields of work have been included in the team for developing villages as smart villages. Mrs Paul said, “we have come here to assist you and also make available the resources”, adding that people have to come forward if they want to make their villages smart. She said the responsibility of upkeep of the property to be developed under this project would be of the villagers. Hence, it is important for the villagers to assist the team for making this project a success, she added.
Mrs Paul said that in the first phase of smart model village project, the team would prepare development project of the village within a week after conducting the survey. She asked the villagers to initially constitute a team of 7-8 persons which would assist the team of Rashtrapati Bhavan Secretariat in developing the village as smart village. She also asked them to prepare a list of 4-5 major development projects so as to complete these in a phased manner. She said that initially through mutual discussion, the villagers could decided the priority of works to be undertaken . She said that it was necessary for a smart village that every work should be completed within a specific time limit.
With a view to apprise the people about the smart model village project, a five-day training programme would be organized by Skill Development Corporation at Udhyog Kunj of village Alipur from July 9 to 13, 2016 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., she added.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon, Mr Viney Pratap Singh said that it was for the first time in the history that panchayats have been directly linked with Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The residents of these villages apprised Mrs Paul with their demands and assured their cooperation in making the villages smart.
