Mango Mela culminates on a musical note

Panchkula,3-July.Curtains draw close on 25th Mango Mela at Pinjore Gardens on Sunday evening. Acharya Dev Vrat, Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh, the chief guest at the closing-cum-prize distribution ceremony of the Mango Mela gave away awards to the mango growers competing under different categories. Also present on this occasion were Smt. Seema Trikha, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Tourism & Hospitality, Haryana, Sh Gian Chand Gupta, MLA, Panchkula and Smt Latika Sharma, MLA, Kalka.
Sh V.S. Kundu, Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture Department, Haryana rendered a warm reception to the chief guest in his welcome speech. Sh Kundu stated that the Mango Mela offers an ideal platform to the mango growers for interaction and get familiarized to new techniques for improving their mango produce. He further stated that sincere efforts were being made to improve the produce of mangoes in the state of Haryana. He also applauded the efforts of Haryana Tourism for the smooth and successful organizing of the Mango Mela.
Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh Acharya Dev Vrat congratulated Haryana Tourism and Horticulture Department Haryana for organizing the Mango Mela on such a grand scale that saw participation from hundreds of mango growers hailing from different states of the country.
Acharya Dev Vrat honoured Sh Ashok Kumar, Manager & Sh Dayal Ram, waiter of Gauriyya Tourist Complex, Bahadurgarh, who returned an amount of Rs 2.00 lakh belonging to a customer who happened to forget the money in his room. They were given appreciation cerficates and a cash award of Rs 5100/- each.
Following which, the chief guest gave away prizes to the mango growers. Soyab mango cultivation, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh and Raj Kumar Gupta, Malihabad, Lucknow bagged first and second Aam Kesri awards in which they won Rs 15,000 and Rs 11,000 plus shield and certificate respectively. The best mango grower of Haryana award was given away to Sh Vikram Singh Chauhan of Yamunanagar and the district Yamunanagar was adjudged as the best mango growing district of the State of Haryana.
Sh. Sameer Pal Srow, Managing Director, Haryana Tourism, presented a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest.
Popular Punjabi Sufi singer Satinder Sartaaj performed to a packed audience and weaved a magical spell with his popular Sufi numbers.
