Haryana Government has invoked the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) in the state for six months in view of the call for two-day state-wide strike.

Chandigarh, June 24–Treating the distribution and maintenance of supply of electricity as an essential service to the people, the Haryana Government has invoked the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) in the state for six months in view of the call for two-day state-wide strike given by the unions of workers of Haryana Power Utilities on June 29 and 30, 2016.
Stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the government had prohibited strike in the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited, Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited by any of their employees for six months with immediate effect.
