Panchkula, June 17- The Civil Hospital, Panchkula has become the first hospital in the country to get National Quality Assurance Certification (NQAC).The hospital underwent assessment by three empanelled external assessors, according to a written communication received from Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
While giving this information here today, Haryana Health Minister, Mr Anil Vij said that the certification entitles this 300 bedded hospital to get Rs 5,000 per bed for three years. Therefore, the hospital would get Rs 15 lakh per year and a total of Rs 45 lakh in three years as the prize money. This would help in making available more facilities for the patients. The team of NQAC would continue to monitor facilities and quality of patient care being provided at the hospital along with other standards, in the following years also.
He said that the team of NQAC had visited the hospital from January 28 to 30,2016 and assessed it for quality, cleanliness, maintenance and Indoor Patient Department or Out Patient Department care services as per NQAS standard.
He said that on assessment, the team graded the hospital and it scored a total of 83 per cent marks. The healthcare facilities of 18 departments of the hospital scored above 70 per cent marks and the hospital scored 97 per cent in facilities being provided under Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A) Services and A-2 standard. The hospital scored 78 per cent in standard B-5 and 84 per cent in D-10. The hospital has scored 64 per cent marks in quality management and 66 per cent in care and service quality of departments.
He said that in view of public welfare, the State Government has initiated the process of getting accreditation of National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) to 84 hospitals of the State. Under this, world class healthcare facilities would be provided. In this list, four hospital of each district have been included for the uniform development of the State.
