The President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, has taken the initiative to develop five villages of Haryana.
Chandigarh, June 9 – The President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, has taken the initiative to develop five villages of Haryana, including four in district Gurgaon and one in district Mewat as model villages.
This was disclosed by Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, who was interacting with media persons shortly after calling on the President at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi today.
He said that in deference to the President’s desire to develop villages as ‘adarsh’ villages, he had, on behalf of the State Government, submitted a list of five villages for this purpose today. He said that with the assistance of Rashtrapati Bhawan, the State Government would also pool resources to make these villages ‘Smart’ to set an example for development of other villages in the State.
He said that under the ‘Adarsh Gram Yojana’, Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assembly, officers and voluntary organisations have already adopted villages in the State, which has yielded positive results.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Rajesh Khullar and Principal Resident Commissioner, Haryana Bhawan, New Delhi, Mr. Anand Mohan Sharan.
