Promotion of cultivation of hybrid maize.
Chandigarh, June 8- With a view to promote cultivation of hybrid maize in Haryana, the farmers will be given seeds of hybrid maize of up to Rs 2,000 per acre free of cost under crop diversification programme.
While giving this information here today, a spokesman of Agriculture Department said that this programme aimed at promotion of cultivation of hybrid maize by reducing area under paddy. The maximum limit for getting seeds has been fixed at four acres per farmer. The farmers who desire to avail the benefit of the scheme, could contact Agriculture Development Officer of the area or the concerned officers to get their names registered by June 15,2016. This would help in ensuring availability of seeds on time.
He said that the appropriate period of sowing of Kharif Maize is between June 20 and July 25.
