Chandigarh, June 5– Haryana Home Secretary, Mr Ram Niwas has, following a letter received from Mr Prakash Singh, former Chairman of the committee, which had submitted the report on role of officers of Civil Administration and Police during the jat reservation agitation recently, requested the State Advocate General, Mr Baldev Raj Mahajan, to make necessary correction in the report, which has been made available to him for placing it before Punjab and Haryana High Court.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that Mr Prakash Singh, had through a written communication urged the Haryana Government to make necessary correction in the inquiry report called “Prakash Singh Committee Report Part-1” in chapter 4, paragraph 4.3, statement attributed to Mr Dushyant Chautala, Member of Parliament.
He said that Mr Prakash Singh has mentioned in his letter, “It was brought to my notice that Sh. Dushyant Chautala,MP had not made any such statement. The Director General of Police, Haryana was thereupon requested to check the original audio-video record. He has since done that and conveyed to me that, while the contents of para 4.3 (1) are correct, the statement was actually made by Sh. Digvijay Chautala and not Sh. Dushyant Chautala, as mentioned in the report. There was a mistake in conveying relevant information to the committee and the mistake was unfortunately carried forward in the report.
“As former Chairman of the committee, I nevertheless take full responsibility for the mistake and convey my deepest regrets for the same to Sh. Dushyant Chautala, Member of Parliament. I would like to assure him that there was absolutely no intention whatsoever to malign him or tarnish his reputation. It was a bona fide mistake of fact, added Mr Prakash Singh. ”
