The British School, Panchkula organizes 8th District Panchkula SQAY Championship 2016-17

Panchkula, April 30, 2016: 8th District SQAY Championship 2016-17 was declared open on April 29, 2016 at The British School, Sector 8, Panchkula. The competition attracted a large number of Martial Art exponents from various schools of Panchkula district.

Over 300 young children from different schools and belonging to different weight categories- participated with enthusiasm and fervor. Mr. Sanjay Sethi, President of Sqay Association of Panchkula, inaugurated the tournament by giving the traditional go-ahead for the first bout of the Championship. He said that such competitions promote confidence, discipline and concentration and develop decision making abilities and critical thinking in the children. He also said that participation is more important than winning. It teaches the children to plan and gain insights into the nature of competition.

Ms. Anita Mehra, Principal of The British School, Sec-12, Panchkula apprised the students about the history of Martial Arts. She urged the young children to use both the body and the mind while practicing this popular form of Martial Arts. She congratulated the participants on their sportsmanship and encouraged the children to learn Martial Arts not for the sake of winning but to make it a lifelong practice for their safety and good physical and mental health.

The closing ceremony of 8th Panchkula District SQAY Championship 2016-17 was held on Apr 30, 2016 at The British School, Sector 8, Panchkula.
