Vote for educated and honest candidates in the Municipal General Elections in the state-Kavita Jain.
Chandigarh, April 28- Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Mrs Kavita Jain has urged the people to vote for educated and honest candidates in the Municipal General Elections in the state, the schedule for which was announced today.
Mrs Jain, who was interacting with media persons here today,said that the state government has for the first time implemented the condition of educational qualification for the candidates contesting elections to Urban Local Bodies so that educated and honest candidates get elected. She said that with these new conditions, criminals, defaulters of electricity bills and defaulters of loans would not get chance to get elected. Besides this, the condition of toilets in the houses of contesting candidates, would give emphasis to Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan of Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi and awareness would be generated for sanitation.
Mrs Jain said that the conditions applied by BJP government in elections of Panchayati Raj Institutions were appreciated by the court and had suggested other state governments to follow these in their areas. She urged the people to vote for educated and honest people in the coming elections of Urban Local Bodies on May 22, 2016. She said that educated Councillors would effectively implement the government policies and contribute in the complete development of towns and cities.
In reply to a question, she said that she is hopeful that like Panchayat elections, this time also BJP candidates would win with majority of votes.
