Chandigarh, April 12th, 2016: The Governor of Punjab, Haryana and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki on his first visit to Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Chandigarh emphasized the need for empowering the Divyang Children by assessing the current status of inclusive education practices, identifying areas of strength as well as areas in which further development is needed and in developing a future strategic school improvement plan for inclusive education to enable them to live a life with pride and dignity.
Appreciating the role of staff and management of the Institute, Prof. Solanki said that the wheel of society is running on good deeds, positive thinking, determination and commitment. All these aspects are found in the management of this Institute, because of which it is functioning smoothly and fulfilling all basic needs of the Divyang Children.
Prof. Solanki went around all the rooms and described Divyang Children a national asset to the society and they should not be taken as a liability. He stressed upon giving homely upbringing, proper guidance to these children to transform them into self reliant and useful citizens of the Society.
The Administrator said that Since its inception The Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken up varied activities with regard to Child Rights such as Improvements in the Juvenile Justice system, Child Labour, Child Beggary, Child Trafficking, Child Abuse, Sexual Offences against Children, Corporal Punishment, Out of School and dropout children, Monitoring of Right to Education Act, Child Health and Nutrition and Underlining the Needs of Divyang Children of Chandigarh, which is highly appreciable.
Complimenting the work being undertaken on Divyang Children by the Commission, Prof. Solanki said that conducting of the 3rd Internship Programme on Divyang Children, submitting a related Report and preparing a Resource Directory for the Chandigarh Administration, organising a Workshop on School Inclusive Education Development Programme (SIEDP) for Principals of Government and Private Schools and a Nine Days “We Care Film Festival “would be proved very useful for over all development of these special children. The Automated Stock Inventory Management Software developed by Chandigarh based R & D company Advenio Intelis Pvt. Ltd was also inaugurated by H.E. Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki. This Software will help in proper management of stock position. The issuance, addition and updation of inventory is all automatically handled which really leads to a good check over unauthorised usage of inventories. Donation receipt is automatically generated once the details are entered in the inventory database.
Wishing all the best in their lives ahead of them, Prof. Solanki said the word ‘Divyang’ brings more positive energy than the differently able.
