Introduction of English as a subject from Class I onwards under concideration.

Chandigarh, March 30 – Haryana Education Minister, Mr. Ram Bilas Sharma, said that with a view to improving quality of education in government schools, the State Government was considering introduction of English as a subject from Class I onwards. However, this would be a policy-based decision.
The Minister was replying to a question during the Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.
He informed the House that norms have been set for upgrading schools. He said that when legislators bring the issue of upgrading schools in their constituencies to his notice, the schools which fulfill the prescribed norms are upgraded. Improvement of quality of education was a priority of the Government, he added.
