Delhi-Jaipur Expressway would be started by the end of this year-Gadkari
CHANDIGARH, March 8-Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, Mr Nitin Gadkari today announced to construct Metrino Personal Rapid Transit System in Gurgaon from Delhi-Haryana boarder to Rajiv Chowk and Sohna road (Badshahpur Chowk) as a pilot project. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) of this project has been prepared at a cost of Rs 980 crore. This project would be like an airborne personal rapid transit system. He also announced a road from Dwarka in Delhi to Khedkidola in Gurgaon as National Highway.
This and other major announcements were made by Mr Nitin Gadkari while addressing the Valedictory Session of the 2-day Happening Haryana Global Investors’ Summit 2016 in Gurgaon today.
He said that nine National Highways costing Rs 8000 crore have already been announced for the State. He also announced that Haryana would have its first water way from Palla in district Sonepat to Wazirabad in Delhi.
He announced that the work on Delhi-Jaipur Expressway would be started by the end of this year. It would cost Rs 18,000 crore. This expressway would pass through Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan. The total length of this project in Haryana is about 70 kilometers. He announced that Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway would be constructed. This 45,000 crore expressway would pass through the States of Delhi-Haryana-Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. The length of the project in Haryana is about 170 kilometers and it would considerable reduce the travelling time, he added.
The Union Minister also announced to construct bypass of Gurgaon linking National Highway-236 (Mehrauli-Gurgaon) with NH-8 and link between NH-8 (near Ambiance Mall) and NH-236 (Mehrauli-Gurgaon road). The construction of this bypass and link would decongest NH-8 and Gurgaon city. Apart from this, he also announced that a sum of Rs 160 crore would be spent on the improvement of junction near the Ambiance Mall in Gurgaon.
Mr Gadkari announced that Rs 285.57 crores would be spent on the improvement of junction at Rajiv Chowk, Gurgaon on Delhi Gurgaon Expressway, Rs 263.41 crores on the improvement of junction at Signature Chowk in Gurgaon and Rs 386.34 crores for improvement of junction at IFFCO chowk. He said that the westerly bypass of Kundali-Manesar-Palwal Expressway (KMP), would be completed within 343 days. It will greatly reduce the traffic and pollution of Delhi.
The Union Minister said that the mission of the Central Government led by Mr Modi is to eradicate poverty and generate maximum employment opportunities for the youth. He said that Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal is also working for the same. “Our basic policies for more irrigation for farmers, enhancing infrastructure in rural areas, and bringing investment in allied sector and food processing industries are fundamental to our governance approach”, he added.
