Haryana Government canceled the state-level function of 639th birth anniversary of Saint Guru Ravidas

Chandigarh, February 19 – Haryana Government has decided to cancel the state-level function of 639th birth anniversary of Saint Guru Ravidas, which was scheduled to be organised at Sir Chhotu Ram Stadium, Rohtak, on February 21, 2016.
Haryana Transport Minister, Mr. Krishan Lal Panwar, who was addressing a press conference here today said that a decision to this effect has been taken in view of the blockage of roads all around Rohtak due to the ongoing agitation over reservation. He reiterated the commitment of the State Government to maintain law and order and ensure that harmony is maintained in the society.
He said that following the cancellation of the state-level function, he and Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, would attend the Saint Guru Ravidas Jayanti Samaroh in Barara area of Mullana Assembly Constituency. People from districts of Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Ambala and Panchkula and representatives of social institutions would participate in this function, he said.
While urging the people in other parts of the State to celebrate the birth anniversary of Saint Guru Ravidas in a befitting manner, the Minister said that programmes should be organized at district, tehsil and village levels to commemorate the occasion.
