Chandigarh, February 9- Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has recently got ten criminal cases registered against erring government officers and officials and has also caught one gazetted officer and three non-gazetted officers red handed while accepting illegal gratification.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Bureau said that Mani Ram, Clerk in the office of District Education Officer Jind was caught red handed while accepting illegal gratification of Rs 40,000 on behalf of Jogender Hooda, District Education Officer, Jind. In another case, Vijay Kumar, Forest Guard of Safidon, district Jind was caught while accepting illegal gratification of Rs 6,000. Besides this, Krishan Kumar, Sanitation Inspector, Municipal Corporation, Faridabad and Sub Inspector Balwan Singh, Police Post Badli, district Jhajjar were also caught taking bribe of Rs 1,500 each in separate cases. He said that cases under sections 7 and 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act have been registered against them at Bureau’s Police Stations.
He said that apart from this, two non-gazetted officers of Local Bodies and Police Departments were sentenced rigorous imprisonment in two criminal cases registered against them under sections 7and 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The spokesman said that investigations are being conducted in cases against an Executive Engineer, one Junior Engineer and officer and officials of Education Department. He said that these officials have been accused for irregularities committed in purchase of LED television set, and amassing wealth more than their income and embezzling Rs 90 lakh meant for renovation of pond.
