Haryana Health Minister, Mr. Anil Vij, has ordered vigilance inquiry of 15 Multi Purpose Health Worker (MPHW) colleges .approved during the tenure of former Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal has also given his approval for conducting the inquiry. Mr. Vij said that the previous State Government had given approval for opening 15 MPHW colleges just one month before elections. He added that within one month, the college building was constructed, Letter of Intent and Letter of Permission were issued, checking was conducted and all formalities required for making college functional were shown to have been completed. The Health Minister said that suspicion was raised when these 15 colleges applied for admission of students. Following this, the college institutions concerned approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court, where the Haryana Government, expressing doubt, demanded re-inspection of the basic infrastructure of these colleges. This demand was accepted by the High Court. Mr. Vij said that following this, Sub Divisional Officers of the districts concerned and officers of the Department had carried out videography of the inspection of these colleges, but the report submitted by them was entirely different from the report submitted earlier. He said that two facts have come to light in this matter, according to which wrong report was submitted earlier. It was found that the institutions taking permission for opening colleges had cheated the government and the officers who had prepared the wrong report had misled the government. Keeping in view these facts, vigilance inquiry of these colleges has been ordered today. Strict action would be taken against all those found guilty in this matter, he added. No.IPRDH/20
