Rs. 52.34 lakh received by the Haryana Khadi and Village Industries Board for 2012-13 and 2013-14.

Chandigarh, December 23 – In a major initiative to rejuvenate indigenous textile industry, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal has announced that the Market Development Assistance (MDA) scheme envisaging financial assistance at 20 percent of production value on Khadi and Khadi products and polyvastra, a synthetic variety of Khadi, would be implemented throughout the year in the State. Besides, he also approved rebate claims of about Rs. 52.34 lakh received by the Haryana Khadi and Village Industries Board for 2012-13 and 2013-14.

          While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that Central Government, under MDA scheme, provides 20 percent financial assistance which is shared by spinners and weavers, producing institutions and selling institutions in the ratio of 25 per cent, 30 per cent and 45 per cent, respectively. He said that MDA scheme would re-energise the Khadi industries with financial assistance of about Rs six crore. He said that under the scheme, only those Khadi-producing units which are located in the state would be eligible for financial assistance on the Khadi products manufactured in their units.

          He said that Chief Minister has also approved a proposal of Industries Minister Capt. Abhimanyu to formulate a detailed plan to promote the Khadi and village industries in the State by dovetailing other Central government schemes in this regard to encourage the spinners and weavers to produce value added products of global standards so as to compete in the domestic as well as global markets, he added
