Panchkula-December 21: While giving a bonanza to the sports persons in the State, Haryana Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal today made a number of announcements which included construction of Khel Suvidha Kendra in all sports stadiums at District Headquarters, setting of 100 gymnasiums in the parks falling under the jurisdiction of municipalities in the State, setting up of Sports and Physical Fitness Institute and Renovation of Cricket Stadium, Panchkula.
            Mr Manohar Lal made these announcements while addressing the people during the Felicitation Ceremony of Medal Winning Players of Haryana at Inderdhanush Auditorium at Panchkula near here today.
          While congratulating the people on the occasion of Gita Jayanti Samaroh, the Chief Minister also announced that Shakti Bhawan Chowk, sector-6, Panchkula would be named as Gita Chowk.
            On this occasion, the Chief Minister gave away award money of Rs 9.50 crore to 258 sports person of the State including 129 men and same number of women. While award money of 8.69 crore was distributed among 236 sports persons who were a part of the contingent representing Haryana which won  medals in the 35th National Games held in Kerala earlier this year, award money of Rs 81.50 lakh was given away to 22 players who have won medals in various  international competitions held during the 2012-15.Earlier in the year, the Chief Minister had also honored 157 international level players with a cash prize of Rs 53.50 crore. These sportspersons had participated in various events during the previous Congress government in the State.
            The Chief Minister said that the Khel Suvidha Kendra which would be constructed in all sports stadiums at District Headquarters would be named after Swami Vivekanand who is also considered as the source of inspiration for the sportspersons. He said that with a view to create an atmosphere of sports in urban areas, the government has also decided to open 100 gymnasiums in the first phase. More such gymnasiums would be set up in the next year, he said.  He said that the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has been directed to renovate the Cricket Stadium, Panchkula and to make required sitting arrangements.
            While congratulating the sportspersons, the Chief Minister said that every youth in the State would be given equal opportunity to showcase his strength and ability so that he could bring laurels not only for himself but also for the state and the country. He said that both physical and mental strength contributes to the overall development of human being and added that it was a matter of fact that people born in Haryana are physically and mentally strong. He said that Haryana is the land of sacred Gita, Cow and Sarasvati. After taking over the reign of the administration in the State, we have given special emphasis on channelizing the energy of youth in the right direction so that they could lead a respectable life. However, much more needs to be done in this direction, he added. He said that though food, clothing and shelter are the basic necessities of life, education, health and honour is paramount for a successful life.
            While urging the sports persons to work hard, the Chief Minister hoped that players of the State would win maximum medals in future prestigious events and thus bring laurels to the State and the Country.  He said that we have implemented a new ‘Haryana Physical Activities and Sports Policy-2015′ under which stress would be given on extending facilities even upto the village and town level. Also, Speed Programme has been implemented to identify the budding talent at the grass root level. He said that Vyamshalas would be constructed in all 6500 villages in the State. In the first phase 1000 Vyamshalas would be opened. Apart from this, 1000 coaches would soon be recruited for the same, after which Haryana would become the first state in the country to recruit that number of coaches to train the youth in our traditional sports events like yoga, wrestling and kabaddi. He said that many well established people have come forward to run these Vyamshalas as the traditional sports required comparatively less resources and space.
            Speaking on this occasion, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Mr Anil Vij congratulated the Haryana contingent which stood second after the host during the 35th National Games held in Kerala earlier this year and said that the State has high hopes from them in the next Olympics also. He disclosed that Sports Council would be set up at State level, district level and Village Level and these would also be accorded constitutional status. He said that the draft for the same has already been prepared. Apart from this, we are also in the process of constituting Sports Authority in the State to made available robust infrastructure to the sports persons. He said that coaches would be provided in every district of the State. Advertisement for the filling up about 600 posts of coaches has already been given by the Staff Selection Commission.
            He said that youth of the State has the ability and the government would provide opportunity to them.  He said that despite of our effort, constitution of two separate Olympic Associations in the State has become a hurdle for the players as the selection of players were made by the Olympic Association and not by the government. He said that there should be only one Olympic Association in the State and added that politics in the name of sports would not be tolerated. The Minister said that he has personally urged both the Associations to mutually resolve their issues and also even offered to got conducted an independent election. He said that today also he urged both the Olympic Associations from this platform to resolve their issue in the interest of players of Haryana.
            Earlier, documentary highlighting the achievements and future plans of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department was also presented.

            Additional Chief Secretary, Sports Dr. K.K Khandelwal, Commissioner of police Ambala-Panchkula Division Mr O.P Singh, Director Sports Mr Jagdeep Singh, Deputy Commissioner Panckhkula Mr Vivek Atray , OSD to Chief Minister Mr Jawahar Yadav, other senior officers of district Administration and large number of players were also present on this occasion.
