Digital India Program for Officials of CHB at SPIC
Chandigarh 10, December, 2015: Digital India, a flagship programme of the Government of
India, aims to “transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy”.
The focus is on being transformative to realise IT (Indian Talent) + IT (Information
Technology) = IT (India Tomorrow). This programme centres on three key vision areas of
“Infrastructure as a Utility to Every Citizen”, “Governance and Services on Demand” and
“Digital Empowerment of Citizens”.
Keeping this objective in mind a workshop on Digital India Program was organized at Society
for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh (SPIC) for the officials of Chandigarh Housing Board.
The training was designed to equip participants with the necessary background and
understanding of the Digital India Program which includes 9 major pillars – Broadband
Highway, Universal Access to Phones, Public Internet Access Programme, e-Governance:
Reforming Govt. through Technology, eKranti- Electronic Delivery of Services, Information
for All, Electronics Manufacturing: Target NET ZERO Imports, IT for Jobs, Early Harvest
Programmes.
Insights into Good Governance were also discussed, so as to prepare for a knowledge based
society, the workshop was attended by 22 officials from CHB.
