Section 144 Cr.P.C. imposed
Chandigarh 2, November, 2015: Whereas, it has been made to appear to me that during the Diwali period noise pollution caused by bursting of fire crackers is likely to create annoyance and cause injury to the health of members of public and that there is a need to prevent the same by restricting the usage of fire crackers.
2. AND WHEREAS, I, Ajit Balaji Joshi, District Magistrate, Chandigarh, am of the opinion that immediate action is necessary to put restrictions on use of fire crackers in the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
3. Now, therefore, I Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, District Magistrate, Chandigarh, do hereby prohibit the usage of fireworks or fire crackers.
i) Between 10:00 P.M. to 06:00 A.M. and
ii) In the silence zone which comprises an area of 100 meters around hospitals, educational institutions, courts and religious places.
4. This order shall come into force from zero hours on 03.11.2015 and shall be effective up to and including26.11.2015.
5. In view of the emergent nature of the order, it is being issued ex-parte and is addressed to the public in general.
