Haryana Food and Supplies Department cancelled licenses of 150 depot holders for irregularities
Chandigarh, November 2 – Haryana Food and Supplies Department has cancelled licenses of 150 depot holders for committing various irregularities. Also, security amounting to more than Rs 16 lakh of 367 dealers has been forfeited up to the month of August of the current financial year 2015-16.
While giving this information here today, Food and Supplies Minister, Mr. Karan Dev Kamboj said that essential commodities were being provided to the people through 9,350 fair price shops located in urban and rural areas, near industrial units, schools and hostels of students. He said that out of the total fair price shops functioning in the State, 6,529 were located in the rural areas and 2,821 in urban areas. As many as 77 fair price shops were located near industrial units and 22 fair price shops were located near schools and hostels, he added.
He said that for ensuring transparency and proper functioning of the Targeted Public Distribution System and accountability of the functionaries in such system, Vigilance Committees have been constituted at Fair Price Shop, Block, District and State level.
