23.87 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy arrived in Haryana

Chandigarh, October 16 – During the current Kharif season, more than 23.87 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy have so far arrived in the mandis of Haryana. During this period last year, more than 14.10 lakh MT paddy had arrived in the mandis.

          While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said that of the total arrival, more than 23.22 lakh MT paddy was leviable and 65,231 MT paddy was non-leviable.

          He added that Kurukshetra had received the maximum amount of paddy at more than 6.49 lakh MT. Of the total arrival, more than 5.87 lakh MT paddy has arrived in Karnal, more than 3.38 lakh MT in Kaithal, more than 3.18 lakh MT in Ambala, more than 1.65 lakh MT in Yamunanagar, more than one lakh MT in Fatehabad, 71,038 MT in Panchkula, 68,871 MT in Sonepat, 39,702 MT in Sirsa, 36,473 MT in Jind, 5,573 MT in Hisar, 5,288 MT in Palwal, 1,021 MT in Faridabad, 331 MT in Mewat and 58 MT in Jhajjar.

          While government procurement agencies have purchased more than 21.51 lakh MT paddy, millers and dealers have purchased 2.35 lakh MT paddy. The Food and Supplies Department has purchased more than 10.55 lakh MT of paddy, more than 7.51 lakh MT have been purchased by Hafed, 2.20 lakh MT have been purchased by the Haryana Agro-industries Corporation and more than 1.23 lakh MT have been purchased by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation.
