Chandigarh September 19: Haryana Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal said that the country and the State could be made more prosper with the assistance of capable people of the society and added that Karnal Vikas Nidhi would work in this direction.
Mr Manohar Lal who was presiding over the meeting of Governing Council of Karnal Vikas Nidhi at Karnal today said that besides the government contribution, assistance of capable people of the society could also be sought in developing Karnal as a smart city.
He said that the development which would be ensured through the Karnal Vikas Nidhi should be clearly visible to the people. He said that a target of Rs 200 crore should be fixed for the Karnal Vikas Nidhi and the capable people of the society should come forward to contribute in it.
It was apprised in the meeting that the amount which has been collected in Karnal Vikas Nidhi in the first phase would be utilized on the construction of e-toilets in 25 Government Girls Schools of the district. In the meeting, the Chief Minister also discussed in the detail with the members of the Nidhi, various works to be carried out under the Karnal Vikas Nidhi including development of parks and installation of swings, arrangement of street lighting and renovation of community centres. He said that the development of Karnal would be ensured with the consultation of members of the Nidhi.
Members of Governing Council namely Mr Chander Parkash Kathuria and Mr Parvesh Gabba handed over cheques of Rs 11 lakh and Rs five lakh respectively to the Chief Minister as their contribution to the Karnal Vikas Nidhi.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. J. Ganeshan, Superintendent of Police Mr Pankaj Nain, OSD to Chief Minister namely Mr Jawahar Yadav and Mr Amrinder Singh, Trustees of Karnal Vikas Nidhi namely Mr Pankaj Bharti and Mr Satish Khattar and other members of the Governing Council were also present in the meeting.
