Two arrested while accepting illegal gratification

Chandigarh, Sept 1—The Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has caught two persons red-handed while accepting illegal gratification.

      Stating this here today, a spokesman of the Bureau said that Kuldeep Punia, Sub Divisional Engineer, UHBVN, Rai, Sonipat district, was caught while taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from Joginder, a resident of Khewra in Rai, for getting sanctioned a temporary electricity connection for his warehouse under construction at Nathupur in Sonipat.

     A case was registered under Sections 7 and 13 under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Rohtak police station of the Bureau on August 31, 2015. He was trapped by Inspector Rajiv Kumar of the Bureau in the presence of Block Development and Panchayat Officer, Murthal, who was the duty magistrate.

     He said that in another case, Krishan Kumar, halqa patwari, Rohad, Jhajjar district, was caught red-handed while accepting illegal gratification of Rs 2,500 from Jagdish, a resident of Rohad, police station Sadar Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar, in lieu of mutation of land and change of name of the complainant’s brother Chander Singh, which had been inadvertently written as Chand Singh in revenue records.

          A case was registered against the accused under Section 7 and 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Rohtak police station of the Bureau on August 31, 2015. He was trapped by Inspector Om Parkash of the Bureau in the presence of Block Development and Panchayat Officer, Bahadurgarh, who was the duty magistrate, the spokesman added.
